The Principal Engineer Combat Systems reports to the Project / Maintenance Manager and is responsible for management and oversight of all MK92 Combat Systems functions, and is familiar with other Combat Systems, and services supporting the Maritime contract in the Philippines. The overall purpose of this position is to overhaul and maintain the MK92 while exhibiting superior workmanship focused on a quality end product. Follows Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure all tasks are accomplished safely and with an emphasis on quality. Completes all tasks in accordance with local Safety, Environmental, and Health directives. Addresses customer concerns in a prompt, professional, and courteous manner.
Responsibilities
Major Job Activities:
- Perform MK92 and other Combat Systems system grooms, rebuilds, refurbishments, assemblies, repairs / replacements of various internal mechanical, electrical, and cabling components.
- Complete various levels of Fire Control System (FCS) mods, including disassembly, repair / replacement, refurbishment, along with reassembly, operational testing, and realignment / readjustments.
- Coordinate various logistics services in identification, location, and expediting of critical spares and maintenance materials.
- Utilize technical manuals, wiring schematics, block diagrams, drawings, and system software to rapidly isolate malfunctions in controllers, system wiring, sub-assemblies, and other components.
- Collaborate in multicultural environments and interact with stake holders to identify and resolve issues.
- Cooperate and collaborate with the Project Manager to develop strategies and policies to successfully execute contractual requirements on time and on budget.
- Evaluate, prioritize, and balance requirements.
- Responsible for the direct oversight and development of detailed program reports, to include Material Condition Assessment (MCA), Current Ship’s Maintenance Schedule (CSMP), and Work Packages (WP) for planned and emergent maintenance.
- Supervise and provide technical leadership for all local labor located in the Philippines.
- Interpret program requirements via multiple sources (RFP, SOW, WBS, etc.).
- Support management and customer reviews as requested by the Program Manager.
- Identify and recommend improvements to scheduling processes, practices or materials, which lead to positive results in product quality.
- Exhibit sound interpersonal skills involving interfacing, coordinating and negotiating with company personnel, customers and suppliers.
- Provided technical training on system troubleshooting, alignment, and preventive maintenance, enabling shipboard personnel to become more self-sufficient in improving system reliability.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Working Environment & Physical Activities:
- Must be capable of working in both indoor and/or outdoor environmental conditions, including extreme weather conditions.
- Includes some industrial production environment conditions as well.
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) required for some situations. PPE includes, but is not limited to, head, foot, torso, respiratory, vision, and hearing protective devices.
- Must comply with all Fire and Safety Regulations and post policies.
Qualifications
Education:
One-year related experience may be substituted for one year of education if degree is required.
- Technical Bachelor’s degree in Combat Systems Engineering, Mathematics, Engineering, or Management required.
Experience:
- At least ten (10) years of multi-functional experience in MK92 Combat Systems troubleshooting, rebuilds, refurbishments, reassembly, and operational testing.
- Ten (10) years of engineering management experience with at least six (6) years as an in-country Team Lead.
- Related supervisory (E5 or above) military experience in Fire Control System mod refurbishments.
- Familiar with project management programs including Microsoft Project, Risk analysis, Primavera, or similar tools.
- Familiarity with maintenance planning software, spreadsheets, word processors, and email.
- Ability to help identify program risk to mitigate and resolve such risk.
- Foreign Military Sales (FMS) and Follow-On Technical Support (FOTS) program experience preferred.
- Functional, comprehensive working knowledge of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and Military supply accountability preferred.
Other Requirements:
- Must be CAC eligible and/or able to obtain a Common Access Card (CAC).
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Current U.S. Passport with a minimum of 1 year prior to expiration and 3 blank pages.
Skills & Technology Used:
- Verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail, problem solving and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to analyze costs related to maintenance, labor and materials.
- Ability to accurately document and record customer / client information.
- Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations related to shipping and production.
- Requires intermediate to advanced knowledge and fluency of Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel).
Supervisory / Budget Responsibilities:
- Provides broad guidance and direction to a multinational team.
