Poseidon International is immediately hiring for the following positions in Alexandria, Egypt:

Diesel Engine Inspector

Technical Assistance Team (DEI)

Position requires candidate to directly supervise, mentor and train assigned Egyptian Navy and sub-contracted Journeyman personnel. This includes assigning work, evaluating performance, identifying training needs, and hearing/resolving issues and conflicts.

  • Provide technical assistance and training to Egyptian Navy Officers and Enlisted personnel to include the following: proper operation, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair procedures for internal combustion engines, typically found aboard former USN FFG-7, and MHC-51 class vessels in support of Egyptian Navy shipboard lifecycle maintenance requirements.
  • Principle area of responsibility will be to provide technical assistance on Generators (Caterpillar, Stewart Stevenson) and FMC (MTU) and MHC Propulsion systems (Isotta Fraschini) and related mechanical subsystems found on these classes of ships
  • Position requires frequent interaction with Senior Egyptian Naval Officers, professionalism and cultural tolerance is a must for this position.
  • Provide detailed and technically accurate written condition, open, and inspection reports.  Use technical publications to identify and order required repair parts.

Ideal candidate will be a Senior Engineman with an Isotta Franschini and/or Caterpillar Diesel NEC and a minimum of 7 years’ experience. Diesel Engine Inspector certification a plus.

Air Conditioning & Refrigeration experience a plus.

Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office.

Ability to prepare detailed written reports.

Ability to manage, train and mentor foreign nationals.

For assignment to Egypt, he must be tolerant of the foreign, predominately Islamic, environment and capable of working effectively and harmoniously with others in that environment. He must be resourceful and able to work around problems such as lack of access when planned, electrical power and compressed air when needed, or personnel when expected. He must be able to work independently without support, many times accomplishing repairs and overhauls by himself. He must agree to work in Egypt for at least one year, as long as his performance is satisfactory and the effort continues to be funded, and be willing to consider staying longer, if offered.

Must be able to obtain a Security Clearance and submit to a host country mandated HIV test.

Gas Turbine Electrician / Fire Control Technician

Technical Assistance Team (GSE/FC with 2M)

Position requires candidate to directly supervise, mentor and train assigned Egyptian subcontracted personnel. This includes assigning work, evaluating performance, identifying training needs, and hearing/resolving issues and conflicts.

  • Primary duties for this position include the maintaining and managing an established 2M lab. Candidate must have a proven ability to perform MINIATURE COMPONENT REPAIR and MICROMINIATURE COMPONENT REPAIR. To include repair of discrete components and single- and double-sided printed circuit boards, including removal and installation.
  • Secondary duties will fall into one of two skill sets requiring experience in only one of the specialty fields; Gas Turbine Electrician, or Fire Control Technician.
  • If applying as a GSE the candidate will provide technical assistance and training to Egyptian Navy Officers and Enlisted personnel to include the following: operating electric plant main and propulsion control equipment; locating circuit failures and replacing parts; measuring current, voltage and resistance; testing for shorts, grounds and continuity; testing protective circuitry; testing, servicing and replacing batteries; performing preventive maintenance on digital data equipment and control and monitoring circuits; measuring insulation resistance; repairing electrical/electronic cables, wiring and connectors; maintaining alarm, indicating and warning systems; maintaining and repairing gas turbine engines and auxiliary equipment; working with blueprints, schematics and charts; performing administrative procedures related to gas turbine propulsion system operation and maintenance; performing work area inspections; operating standard test equipment; stopping engines and checking for proper performance; replacing and adjusting operating tolerance of contacts, micro-switches, relay switches, pressure switches and temperature switches.
  • If applying as a Fire Control Technician the candidate will provide technical assistance and training to Egyptian Navy Officers and Enlisted personnel to include the following: operation, repair, maintenance, of weapon systems typically found on-board former FFG-7 ships, to include their associated computer and sensor packages. Perform organizational and intermediate maintenance on digital computer equipment, subsystems, and systems; operate and maintain combat and weapons direction systems, surface-to-air and surface-to-surface missile systems, and gun fire control systems at the organizational and intermediate level, inspect, test, align, and repair micro/minicomputers and associated peripheral equipment, data conversion units, data display equipment, data link terminal equipment and system related equipment; make analysis for detailed systems, computer programs, electronics, and electronic casualty control; operate associated built-in and external test equipment; load, initialize, and run preprogrammed diagnostic, performance and testing routines for digital computer equipment, digital subsystems, digital systems, and overall combat systems.
  • Position requires frequent interaction with Senior Egyptian Naval Officers, professionalism and cultural tolerance is a must for this position.
  • Provide detailed and technically accurate written condition, and open and inspection reports.  Use technical publications to identify and order required repair parts.

Ideal candidate will be a Senior Gas Turbine Electrician or Fire Control Technician with a 2M certification and background.
